Built to be sat in for hours

The Alder began as a commission for a client who wanted one chair for one corner of one room. The seat sits 380mm from the floor with a 28° recline — low enough to sink into, upright enough to read in without your neck complaining.

Every frame is cut from kiln-dried European white oak and joined with mortise-and-tenon joinery, no metal fixings in the visible structure. The leather is vegetable-tanned full grain that develops a patina rather than wearing through, and the cushion core is CMHR foam wrapped in a wool-blend wadding.

Because each chair is made to order, small variations in grain and leather tone are expected — and, we think, the point.
